Hamilton St. Pub
If you thought the Super Bowl was the only big show going on this weekend then you obviously were not at The Hamilton St. Pub on Saturday night.
The sound from the Finals of the Backyard Battle reverberated all around old town as four bands that each won a First Round Fight left everything they had on the stage, competing for the $1000 Grand Prize handed out by TheRevolutionMusic.com.
Nervz End drew the first slot of the night, just like they did in their First Round Fight. And just like the first time around, their concerns proved unfounded as they ended up edging out a win by a scant 9 points!
Downseed followed on stage, and just barely in the voting as well. The crowd that came to support Donwseed and the show they put on prove that they deserve the accolades they have been receiving as one of the top area bands.
Dryvel Showed why they deserved a spot in the Finals by putting on a rocking performance that was punctuated with a sing along for the crowd. They even had visual aids (cue cards) just incase you didn’t know the words.
Milligram Smile was the exclamation point to a strong line up of local bands. They effortlessly tossed vocals back and forth on stage, accenting their progressive melody.
The wall to wall packed house, including our industry expert judges Jarrod Montague (Taproot), Matt The Hat (Z93) and Susan Lueth (WirlessDeveloper Agency) were then treated to a set by perennial favorites Tensionhead.
We want to thank Fire Hyena Studios, New Skin Inc. and The Hamilton St. for sponsoring the first ever Backyard Battle and helping to make the entire experience a huge success.
Congratulations again, to Nervz End. Thanks again to Downseed, Dryvel and Milligram Smile and all the other bands who competed. We proved that Michigan music is alive and well. Keep supporting local music! Look for the compilation CD soon.
